About BE(YOU)FULL

The purpose, development and guiding principles behind BE(YOU)FULL.

BE(YOU)FULL “Mind the Gap” and works towards promoting equality in society.

By reflecting on your own biases, values and beliefs, and taking concrete actions to support equality, you can contribute to bridging the gap between individuals and communities and promoting a more equitable society.

This is an ongoing process that requires continuous effort, awareness and self-reflection.

Because it is about creating an impactful ripple effect: nurturing young minds, strengthening local communities and caring for our environment.

BE(YOU)FULL is not simply a project; it is a movement that sparks creativity, fosters collaboration and drives positive change for everyone involved.

BE(YOU)FULL is aimed at creative and committed young people with promising ideas for projects in areas such as environmental protection and decarbonisation. Participants may be selected through schools, universities and partner organisations, with inclusion across social background, race, gender and nationality.

BE(YOU)FULL began in 2010 as an identity-focused project developed by Carlos Simpson while studying Graphic Design at the University of the West of England in Bristol.

The work continued to develop through design, mentoring, education and social-impact activity, becoming a broader social enterprise initiative from 2016 onwards.

In October 2025, BE(YOU)FULL CIC was incorporated to provide a formal community-interest structure for mentoring, education, partnership and human-development programmes.

No. The focus of BE(YOU)FULL is on education, human development and supporting young people, educators and communities rather than on technical systems.

Its work is based on the belief that education, mentoring, creativity and responsible participation can strengthen both individual and collective human potential.

Technical tools may support programme delivery, but they are not the central purpose of the BE(YOU)FULL mission.

BE(YOU)FULL serves young people, educators and community leaders who believe that change begins with education, creativity and empathy. Our initiatives primarily support students aged 14–25, alongside teachers, mentors and creative professionals who wish to make a positive social impact.

We focus on under-represented communities, emerging creatives and individuals facing barriers to opportunity, helping them develop confidence, leadership and purpose through mentoring, coaching and creative learning experiences.

Our inclusive framework aims to ensure that everyone, regardless of background, culture or circumstance, feels seen, heard and empowered to grow into their fullest potential.

At the heart of BE(YOU)FULL lies a simple but powerful belief: when people are encouraged to be fully themselves, they become capable of transforming the world around them.

Our core values and guiding principles are grounded in authenticity, empathy, creativity and purpose. These values shape everything we do, from mentoring and coaching to education, design and community impact.

Our core values:

  • Authenticity: Encouraging individuals to show up as their true selves without fear or compromise.
  • Empathy: Building bridges of understanding, kindness and shared humanity.
  • Creativity: Inspiring innovation through imagination, art and purposeful design.
  • Collaboration: Valuing connection over competition and progress through unity.
  • Integrity: Acting ethically, transparently and in alignment with our social mission.
  • Growth: Supporting lifelong learning, self-reflection and personal evolution.
  • Sustainability: Making conscious choices that protect our planet and future generations.

BE(YOU)FULL was founded in London, United Kingdom, but its vision and impact extend beyond borders. While many mentoring and educational initiatives are currently delivered across London and other UK regions, the mission to empower people through education, empathy and creativity is global by design.

We collaborate with international educators, mentors, artists and community organisations who share our values of authenticity, sustainability and inclusion. Through these partnerships, BE(YOU)FULL can support virtual mentoring, creative learning exchanges and digital community projects that reach participants across borders.

Our long-term ambition includes developing global BE(YOU)FULL hubs: creative and mentoring spaces that connect individuals and organisations working towards the same purpose.

To make the world a better place through awareness, compassion and shared humanity.

While BE(YOU)FULL’s heart beats in London, its message and movement belong to the world.

BE(YOU)FULL CIC is a London-based community interest company that provides an institutional structure for BE(YOU)FULL’s mentoring, education, creative-learning and human-development work.

Its purpose is to support young people, educators and communities in developing confidence, identity, awareness, agency, judgement and meaningful participation through structured programmes and partnerships.

The CIC is mission-led and operates for community benefit. Its work is distinct from the wider BE(YOU)FULL philosophy and intellectual framework, while translating those ideas into practical activity.

No. BE(YOU)FULL CIC is a Community Interest Company, not a registered charity.

A CIC is a UK company created to pursue a defined community purpose. It is subject to the community-interest test and an asset lock, which helps ensure that its assets and activities are used primarily for community benefit.

Being mission-led does not mean that the organisation has no operating costs. A CIC may pay legitimate expenses, salaries and professional fees while remaining accountable to its stated community purpose.

Frameworks and Practice

The principles, developmental architecture and practical models used across BE(YOU)FULL.

The BE(YOU)FULL Framework is a set of principles and practices designed to empower individuals to reach their full potential.

Its earlier formulation was organised around five key elements: mentorship, training, support, community and empowerment.

As the work has developed, the Framework has also come to connect identity, awareness, judgement, decision-making, action, participation and agency as interdependent dimensions of human development.

BE(YOU)FULL integrates a range of evidence-informed tools, models and reflective frameworks designed to support growth, awareness and transformation. Each is selected to align with our values of authenticity, empathy and creativity and to meet the diverse needs of participants, from young learners to experienced educators and leaders.

Our programmes may draw from internationally recognised models such as:

  • GROW Model (Goal, Reality, Options, Will): to help mentees clarify purpose, reflect on current challenges and take meaningful action.
  • OSCAR Model: for outcome-focused mentoring that builds awareness and accountability.
  • CLEAR Model: to create structured, compassionate conversations that promote personal responsibility and progress.
  • Johari Window: to enhance self-awareness, openness and trust between mentors and mentees.
  • OK Corral Life Position Model: to support emotional intelligence, confidence and positive relational dynamics.
  • Mental Toughness Framework: to develop resilience, adaptability and wellbeing in challenging environments.

BE(YOU)FULL also encourages creative and reflective tools such as journaling, visual mapping, storytelling and Synergy Circles, a method for exploring identity, connection and community growth.

All frameworks are applied in line with professional ethical standards, including relevant EMCC Global ethical guidance, so that mentoring and coaching remain purposeful, proportionate and responsible.

At BE(YOU)FULL, tools are not simply techniques; they are pathways to self-discovery, confidence and authentic human connection.

Mentoring and Coaching

How mentoring and coaching relationships are structured, matched and delivered.

Yes. BE(YOU)FULL may work with appropriately qualified and experienced coaches, mentors and facilitators whose competence fits the purpose, participant group and delivery context of the programme.

Professional coaches provide structured developmental support, helping participants clarify goals, examine assumptions, strengthen awareness, consider options and take responsible action.

BE(YOU)FULL coaching and mentoring are not substitutes for psychotherapy, clinical treatment, crisis support or other regulated health services. Where specialist support is required, an appropriate referral or signposting process should be followed.

Yes. Our mentors are experienced individuals who provide guidance, support and advice to people developing personally or professionally.

The main function of a mentor is to help mentees grow and succeed by sharing relevant knowledge, skills and experience. Our mentors act as role models, helping mentees set goals, reflect on progress, receive constructive feedback and maintain encouragement as they work towards their aims.

The relationship between a mentor and mentee can be supportive, challenging and empowering, helping the mentee grow both personally and professionally.

Matching begins with the participant’s goals, developmental needs, interests, context and preferred way of working.

BE(YOU)FULL also considers the mentor or coach’s qualifications, relevant experience, availability, communication style, professional boundaries and suitability for the participant group.

Safeguarding, accessibility, cultural awareness and any potential conflicts of interest are considered before a match is confirmed. Where appropriate, an introductory chemistry conversation allows both parties to clarify expectations and determine whether the relationship feels constructive and safe.

Matching is not based on similarity alone; it is based on whether the practitioner can provide ethical, relevant and developmentally appropriate support.

BE(YOU)FULL offers flexible mentoring and coaching options so that participants can engage according to location, schedule, accessibility and programme requirements.

Sessions may be delivered in three main formats:

  • Online: Through secure digital platforms such as Zoom or Teams, enabling participants to connect remotely while maintaining confidentiality and comfort.
  • In person: For schools, universities and community-based projects, where face-to-face interaction can strengthen trust, connection and collaboration.
  • Hybrid: A blended approach combining online and in-person activity to provide flexibility while preserving meaningful engagement.

The format is agreed according to goals, availability, context, safeguarding and accessibility. All formats follow the same ethical standards, reflective structure and supervision practices to support consistency and quality.

Whether online or in person, BE(YOU)FULL is about creating meaningful human connection: spaces where people feel seen, heard and supported to grow.

BE(YOU)FULL programmes are designed to be transformative, flexible and human-centred, adapting to the goals of each participant, school or partner organisation.

Programme length can vary. Many mentoring and coaching journeys follow a structured framework lasting between 6 and 12 months, allowing time for meaningful growth, reflection and measurable impact.

A typical structure may include:

  • Introductory chemistry session: to build trust and clarify expectations.
  • 6 to 8 one-to-one sessions: each lasting around 60–90 minutes, focused on agreed personal or professional development goals.
  • Midpoint review and reflection: to assess progress and alignment with intended outcomes.
  • Final session: to recognise achievements, capture learning and explore next steps.
  • Optional follow-up or alumni engagement: where the relevant programme provides continued learning or community connection.

For schools or group projects, BE(YOU)FULL may also offer shorter thematic workshops, for example four to six weeks, focused on creativity, leadership or wellbeing.

Programmes are supported by supervision, reflective practice and evaluation tools, helping learning extend beyond the individual sessions.

BE(YOU)FULL is not about speed; it is about depth, awareness and lasting transformation.

Mentoring and counselling serve different purposes. BE(YOU)FULL mentoring is a developmental relationship focused on identity, confidence, awareness, decision-making, agency and leadership.

A mentor helps a participant reflect on experience, clarify goals, consider choices and develop practical ways forward. Mentoring may support wellbeing, but it is not psychotherapy, diagnosis, clinical treatment or crisis intervention.

Where a participant needs specialist mental-health or therapeutic support, BE(YOU)FULL should use appropriate safeguarding, referral or signposting procedures. Mentoring can complement professional services, but it does not replace them.

Education and Programmes

Practical guidance for learners, educators, families and programme partners.

Joining BE(YOU)FULL is open to people who believe in growth through creativity, empathy and education. We welcome students, educators, emerging creatives and community leaders who want to make a meaningful difference, beginning with themselves.

To apply for support or take part in a BE(YOU)FULL programme:

  1. Visit our website at beyoufull.org and go to the Get Involved or Contact section.
  2. Complete the relevant application or enquiry form, describing your interests, goals and the type of support you are seeking, such as mentoring, coaching, volunteering or collaboration.
  3. Our team will review your enquiry and identify the most relevant programme, opportunity or next step.
  4. You will receive information about availability, dates, onboarding requirements and any further practical arrangements.

We aim to make the process inclusive, supportive and transparent, ensuring that people from different backgrounds and levels of experience feel welcome to participate.

Every journey begins with one small step, and BE(YOU)FULL is here to walk beside you.

Schools, parents, carers and organisations may also use the Contact page to request a bespoke conversation. Any booking, programme place or delivery date is confirmed only after availability, suitability and practical requirements have been reviewed.

BE(YOU)FULL aims to remove financial barriers wherever possible. Many participant-facing opportunities can be offered free of charge when they are supported through grants, sponsorship, donations or a partner organisation.

Our mission is to help ensure that education, empathy and personal development are not treated as privileges.

Funding can enable us to:

  • Offer funded mentoring and coaching sessions to individuals and schools.
  • Develop digital learning materials that can be accessed more widely.
  • Support creative and social-impact projects in underserved communities.

Some commissioned programmes, professional training or organisational services may carry a fee paid by the commissioning partner. Any participant cost, funding arrangement or eligibility condition will be explained clearly before participation begins.

BE(YOU)FULL exists to remove barriers, not create them. Everyone deserves a chance to grow, learn and lead, regardless of background or circumstance.

At BE(YOU)FULL, the end of a programme can mark the beginning of a new chapter. Personal growth, creativity and social impact continue to evolve after the final session.

Depending on the programme, participants may be invited to remain connected through a developing BE(YOU)FULL alumni and community network of mentors, mentees, educators and changemakers.

Follow-up and alumni support may include:

  • Reflection and transition sessions to capture learning, recognise progress and identify future goals.
  • Continued access to relevant digital resources, creative toolkits and learning materials.
  • Invitations to workshops, events and community projects that encourage further learning and collaboration.
  • Opportunities to return as peer mentors or facilitators, where programme requirements and safeguarding arrangements allow.
  • Newsletters and impact updates that connect participants with future initiatives and partnerships.

The exact follow-up available depends on the specific programme and its resources.

Once you become part of BE(YOU)FULL, your learning can continue through a wider community that believes in people becoming fully themselves and helping others do the same.

Yes. BE(YOU)FULL works with and welcomes enquiries from schools, colleges, universities, educators and youth-facing organisations.

Depending on the needs and scope of the partnership, activity may include mentor training, creative-learning workshops, youth leadership programmes, reflective practice, educator development and framework-informed programme design.

Each collaboration is shaped around the setting, participant group, safeguarding responsibilities, intended outcomes, available resources and method of review. Schools and organisations can begin through the Partnership Enquiry Form or Contact page.

Parents or carers can use the Contact page to enquire about suitable mentoring, educational or developmental support for a young person.

The enquiry should briefly describe the young person’s age, circumstances, goals and the type of support being considered. BE(YOU)FULL will then clarify current availability, programme suitability, safeguarding requirements, consent and the most appropriate next step.

Submitting an enquiry does not guarantee an immediate placement. BE(YOU)FULL mentoring is developmental rather than clinical, and urgent or specialist mental-health concerns should be directed to an appropriate qualified service.

Volunteering

What prospective and active volunteers need to know before joining a programme.

BE(YOU)FULL is a social-impact initiative that aims to empower individuals to reach their full potential.

Volunteering can provide an opportunity to make a positive contribution to individuals and communities, while also developing skills, gaining practical experience and building meaningful professional and community connections.

The value of each role depends on the programme, responsibilities, supervision available and the volunteer’s own learning and contribution goals.

If you are interested in volunteering with BE(YOU)FULL as a mentor, begin through the Get Involved or Contact page.

Please provide relevant information about your qualifications, experience, availability, areas of interest and the participant groups you are prepared to support.

An expression of interest does not automatically guarantee placement. Opportunities depend on current programme demand, role requirements, safeguarding checks, induction and whether the applicant’s competence matches the context.

BE(YOU)FULL provides a comprehensive and values-based orientation designed to ensure that coaches, mentors and volunteers understand our philosophy of authenticity, empathy and purposeful action.

Our training framework combines ethical practice, reflective learning and skills development, informed by relevant EMCC Global standards and the BE(YOU)FULL Mentoring and Coaching Framework.

Guidance and learning opportunities may include:

  • Understanding the BE(YOU)FULL philosophy and its social-impact mission.
  • Safeguarding, confidentiality and ethical responsibility in mentoring and coaching.
  • Active listening, questioning and feedback techniques that support mentee agency.
  • Cultural awareness and inclusive communication to support diversity and belonging.
  • Reflective practice and supervision for ongoing personal and professional development.
  • Creative tools and digital learning methods for engaging young people and educators.

New mentors and volunteers complete an induction process. Depending on the role, this may be followed by development sessions, reflective-practice circles, supervision and accreditation support.

By combining structure with humanity, BE(YOU)FULL aims to help each practitioner become a responsible agent for positive change in both community and professional practice.

BE(YOU)FULL recognises that every mentor and coach contributes time, energy and compassion, and we value those commitments. Programmes aim to be flexible and human-centred, allowing people to participate in ways that are compatible with their professional and personal responsibilities.

A typical commitment may include:

  • An initial onboarding and training period of approximately two to three hours.
  • Regular mentoring or coaching sessions, commonly one to two hours per month over a 6–12 month period, depending on the programme.
  • Reflection and supervision sessions at agreed intervals to support quality, wellbeing and ethical alignment.
  • Optional events, workshops or creative collaborations, joined according to interest and availability.

BE(YOU)FULL encourages consistency over intensity, valuing genuine presence, empathy and dependable engagement above unsustainable commitments.

Mentoring and coaching should be sustainable, rewarding and growth-oriented for everyone involved.

At BE(YOU)FULL, we understand that life circumstances can change. We approach each situation with empathy, transparency and respect, while protecting the wellbeing of the volunteer or mentor and the participant or community group they support.

If a mentor or volunteer needs to pause or step away:

  1. Inform the BE(YOU)FULL coordination team as early as possible.
  2. Take part in a short transition conversation to ensure clarity, closure and support for everyone involved.
  3. Where appropriate, BE(YOU)FULL may reassign the participant or provide short-term guidance to maintain continuity.
  4. Complete a reflective exit form or review, helping the organisation learn from the experience and improve its support systems.

Leaving early does not automatically close the door. Mentors and volunteers may be able to rejoin future programmes, attend events or remain connected to the BE(YOU)FULL community.

This approach reflects our values of care, honesty and inclusion, ensuring that every contribution remains respected.

Partnerships and Funding

How schools, universities, funders and organisations can work with BE(YOU)FULL.

Yes. BE(YOU)FULL welcomes partnership conversations with schools, universities, charities and socially responsible organisations that share our belief in education, empathy, creativity and human potential as drivers of lasting change.

Partnerships are designed to create mutual value and social impact and may include:

  • Mentoring and coaching initiatives for students, educators or emerging leaders.
  • Creative-learning workshops focused on wellbeing, innovation and self-awareness.
  • Collaborative research projects concerning inclusion, sustainability and social development.
  • Corporate social responsibility collaborations, through sponsorship, volunteering or skills-sharing.

Every partnership begins with a conversation about purpose, ensuring alignment in vision, ethics, safeguarding, responsibilities and intended long-term impact.

Where appropriate, BE(YOU)FULL can provide impact reporting and agreed visibility opportunities that demonstrate how a partner’s involvement contributes to meaningful change.

When organisations come together with a shared purpose, they not only empower others; they also redefine leadership, creativity and community.

If you are interested in becoming a BE(YOU)FULL sponsor, use the Partnership Enquiry Form or Contact page to outline the type of support you are considering.

Please include whether the proposed contribution involves funding, resources, professional expertise, employee volunteering or support for a specific programme.

BE(YOU)FULL will review the proposal in relation to its social purpose, ethics, safeguarding responsibilities, community benefit and the practical requirements of the partnership.

BE(YOU)FULL operates as a Community Interest Company established to serve a defined community purpose. Its asset-lock and community-interest obligations support the use of resources for social benefit.

Funding may come from grants, commissioned partnerships, sponsorships, donations and individual contributions that support mentoring, education and creative-empowerment programmes.

We believe in transparency and impact-driven giving. Funding can help us:

  • Provide funded mentoring and coaching to young people and educators.
  • Develop creative-learning tools and digital resources that can be accessed more widely.
  • Run community projects, workshops and social-impact campaigns.
  • Train volunteers, mentors and coaches to expand delivery responsibly.

Sponsorship may be individual or corporate, allowing partners to align with a mission focused on education, empathy and transformation. Reporting, recognition and visibility arrangements are agreed according to the nature and scale of the support.

Together, we aim to build a culture of shared responsibility and collective empowerment, where giving represents both practical support and belief in human potential.

Individuals or organisations wishing to donate, sponsor a programme or offer other support can begin through the Partnership Enquiry Form or Contact page. The organisation will confirm the appropriate route, intended use, reporting expectations and any recognition arrangements before support is accepted.

Safeguarding and Inclusion

The principles and controls used to protect participants and support fair access.

BE(YOU)FULL holds child protection, safeguarding and ethical practice as central responsibilities. We are committed to creating a safe, inclusive and respectful environment for every young person, educator and volunteer involved in our programmes.

Our safeguarding approach follows applicable UK legal and statutory requirements, relevant EMCC Global ethical guidance and the BE(YOU)FULL Code of Practice.

Safeguarding measures may include:

  • Role-appropriate DBS checks and eligibility verification for mentors, coaches and volunteers whose activity requires them.
  • Safeguarding and child-protection training before direct engagement with young participants.
  • Clear professional boundaries and confidentiality protocols that protect participants and practitioners.
  • Supervision and reflective-practice sessions to identify and address concerns early.
  • Designated safeguarding responsibility for reporting, response and escalation.
  • Regular policy review to maintain compliance with changing requirements and recognised standards.

People representing BE(YOU)FULL are expected to understand and follow relevant ethical and safeguarding agreements, acting with integrity, empathy and professionalism.

By embedding these practices into organisational culture, BE(YOU)FULL aims to ensure that interactions are guided by trust, accountability and human dignity, creating conditions in which people can grow safely and confidently.

BE(YOU)FULL was created on the belief that every voice matters and that meaningful change begins when we recognise diversity as strength, equity as responsibility and inclusion as belonging.

We are committed to programmes that reflect the real world: diverse, dynamic and full of potential. Diversity, equity and inclusion are foundational considerations in what we design, teach and share.

Our approach includes:

  • Inclusive recruitment and outreach, seeking participation from a wide range of social, cultural and professional backgrounds.
  • Equitable access to opportunities, with attention to under-represented and marginalised communities.
  • Training and awareness for mentors and volunteers concerning cultural intelligence, unconscious bias and inclusive communication.
  • Safe and reflective spaces in which participants can express themselves respectfully.
  • Ongoing evaluation and dialogue to examine whether language, partnerships and systems remain fair and accessible.

BE(YOU)FULL programmes are designed with empathy, awareness and accountability, guided by the principle that inclusion is not simply about inviting people in, but about creating spaces where people feel they belong.

BE(YOU)FULL does not simply include people; it aims to empower them to be seen, be heard and be valued for who they are.

Impact and Community

How BE(YOU)FULL learns from its work, evaluates change and shares community stories.

BE(YOU)FULL measures impact through a combination of quantitative information and human stories that reflect the difference created through its work.

We examine outcomes across three connected dimensions: personal growth, community transformation and systemic change.

Indicators may include:

  • Improved confidence, leadership and emotional resilience among young people and educators.
  • Feedback and reflective-learning records from mentoring and coaching activity.
  • Sustained partnerships with schools, universities and community organisations.
  • Longer-term engagement through alumni activity, volunteering and collaborative projects.

Beyond numbers, BE(YOU)FULL values transformational change: visible shifts in awareness, empathy and creative agency within individuals and communities.

Every story of growth, every meaningful connection and every voice empowered contributes to our understanding of shared success.

BE(YOU)FULL follows a structured and transparent monitoring, evaluation and learning process designed to support quality, accountability and continuous improvement.

We believe that genuine impact must be both felt and examined, so review combines quantitative information with reflective storytelling.

Key elements may include:

  • Initial goal-setting and baselines for each mentee or participant.
  • Session reflections and proportionate progress records maintained throughout the mentoring journey.
  • Feedback forms for mentors, mentees and partner organisations at agreed stages.
  • Supervision and reflective-practice meetings to support ethical practice and practitioner wellbeing.
  • Impact-evaluation reports highlighting outcomes, growth indicators and community stories.

Feedback is treated as a tool for growth, not judgement. It helps us refine our approach, recognise progress and honour each contribution to the BE(YOU)FULL mission.

Our focus remains on learning through awareness, improving through reflection and growing through connection.

BE(YOU)FULL celebrates real stories of growth, courage and creativity because individual journeys can inspire others.

If you have taken part in a BE(YOU)FULL programme, mentoring relationship or community initiative, you can share how the experience influenced your life, learning or sense of purpose.

  2. Emailing info@beyoufull.org with your contribution and preferred contact details.
  3. Tagging @beyoufull on an appropriate social platform and using #BEYOUFULLJourney.

Selected stories may be featured on the website, blog or social platforms with appropriate consent, credit and safeguarding review.
