Why this work exists

From lived questions to usable knowledge

BE(YOU)FULL Academy research begins with practical questions arising in mentoring, education, leadership and community life. We examine how people develop identity, exercise judgement, strengthen agency and act responsibly when circumstances are complex or uncertain.

Outputs may include practitioner studies, research proposals, framework papers, reflective tools, public-interest articles and collaborative reports. Every item is labelled according to its actual stage of development.

This theme examines the ethical, developmental and creative implications of artificial intelligence, with particular attention to identity, agency, judgement, authorship and leadership.

Ethics and research governance

Human dignity before data collection

Research quality depends on more than method. It requires clear boundaries, meaningful consent, responsible interpretation and honest communication about what the evidence can support.

Informed participation

Participants should understand the purpose, process, potential use of information and their right to withdraw.

Safeguarding and boundaries

Research involving young people or vulnerable participants must be designed around protection, professional roles and clear escalation routes.

Privacy and minimisation

Collect only what is needed, protect identifying information and explain how information will be stored, analysed and reported.

Reflexivity and positionality

Researchers should examine how their roles, assumptions, relationships and interests shape the questions and interpretations.

Transparent status and claims

Proposals, working papers and findings must be distinguished clearly. Limitations should remain visible rather than hidden.

Responsible publication

Publication should preserve participant dignity, avoid inflated conclusions and translate evidence into proportionate, usable knowledge.
